  1. Hello Brad, Could you please confirm the size of the Malin S/S leader wire you use. You say it is 40 lbs, but Graham Bantocks multi plait wire suitable for IOMs has a 50KG breaking strain. That is more than twice as strong. Is that correct? Thanks Chris
  2. For several years now I have raced my DF65 using the set-up as shown by Mike Jefferys on You Tube and the printed sheet by Phil Burgess. These suggested that the mast rake slider adjustment should be set forward for A+ rig and moving aft for the other three rigs. This set the mast virtually upright for the A+ rig, with a back-stay length of 951mm. Now the top sailors, such as Craig Richards and John Tushingham are setting the slider right to the aft end of the adjustment on all four rigs, and using a back stay setting of 940mm on the A+ rig. Why? To what purpose? Surely, raking the mast aft gives more weather helm, no good thing.

Thank you, David. I had the misfortune to hit something in the water, when the water level was very low in the summer, and the bolt on the fin was bent. I am trying to reset the bulb to it factory setting.

Good day, Does anyone have an explanation as to why the bulb on an IOM should be canted up at the forward end +/- 2 degrees? How critical is it, and how do you measure it? I made a template of the fin and bulb, and measured 2degrees over the length of the bulb, then measured the "lift". Adjustments were made with flattened crimps in the bulb slot. All a bit crude.
  5. What do clubs use as a countdown timer? We use a locally made one with attached horn, which works fine, but I can't find a commercial one in case ours packs up. I have tried my iphone with a bluetooth speaker....what a fuss. Any suggestions would be welcome.
