  1. I sail with Clive at Weecher and I have also just agreed to purchase a Vision from one of our members and so I too would be in any Vision sailing notes etc.
  2. Hi Mike Many thanks for the lead to David Potter. I came across these on ebay and ordered a pair to try out https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/317482392643
  3. I have the normal Sailetc type shroud hooks (wire bend to an angle) and I have seen a more compact attachment on some modern boats (mint/proteus etc) who supplies these?
  4. Tried again today and finaly after many attempts got RX3 to bind to the upgraded TX. Previously (1.44 firmware) the RX bind very quickly first time without any drama. Anyware thanks for your replay. PS the RX and TX are all new bought this year.
  5. I have two Flysky FS-8i tx's and three RX's and following a discusion with an IOM sailer at a IOM open meeting, who was using the same radio gear and had done the firmware upgrade, I decided to do the same on my IOM Tx (not required this week), the firmware upgrade went smoothly until tried to try it out on the IOM where the Rx is now un-binded, tried various methods including FlySky Assistant no joy to bind the IOM TX and RX. Managed to get my three boats working on my un-upgraded DF95 TX so I can go sailing on Sunday but wondering what to try next as the makers instructions could be more helpful. Firmware gone from 1.44 to 1.57
  6. Hi All I came across these on the old internet sold mainly on fishing shop sites and wondering if anybody use these as we are RC sailer there a chance to fall in the water? I sail at Weecher and have not done a full year yet and have experience most weather conditions already. Any thoughts
  7. Hi John949 Many thanks for replying to my post, checked yesterday and several of the IOM sailing looked to use the same thread size and one had the same straight slot screw head and the other made a home made hex head by cutting off the screw head and glueing to nuts to the thread rod. I will have another look on ebay, I did find a supplier but may PayPal login was playing up so I left. Regards Craig
  8. I have a David Hollom Arrival IOM and the fin mounting size is M3.5 x 40mm straight slot and I don't like the lack of positive contact when starting to enage the fin to hull (supporting the fin and lead weight) and was looking for a socket head screw but being M3.5 these are thin on the ground as M3.5 is only really the thread of screws used on electrical assessories fronts. Is this common size or do people use M4 screws? Do people tap out the retainer to M4 etc
  9. I also use Hixon 1.5V 3500mA batteries in the transmitter and LiFePo 1000ml in the boat.
  10. Mine makes noise at the windward mark, so going to install the supplied external aerial (another done this and solved these issues).
  11. Just finished playing this afternoon and now I have the right amount of expo for the rudder (I think) in the middle, for small correction and found I could have three different setting using the condition options and SWC three position switch if required. See how if goes on Sunday. Cheers
  12. Many thanks for your reply, I was having a play with the settings for the rudder channel and it as two settings rate and exp. The shape of the curve looks more like a straight line at 100 and -50 gives a flat middle section and stepper left and right ends. I try these settings out with the boat connected and see which works in practice. It looks like only one 3 position switch can be set up with conditions which I have used for the winch. I let you know how I get on. Regards Craig
  13. I am new to RC Yachts and finially got my Dave Hollom Arrival on the water yesterday and found it very sensitve to small adjustments of rudder, in other posts people mention using SWA (2 pos) switch for two setting for different points of the course i.e. start/beating/running etc. Managed to follower the use of SWC (3pos) and using conditions for the winch but wondering if something similar or is a different method better for the rudder. Any help for a newbie
