March 6, 20251 yr I've just fitted a new suit of 36 micron sails from Soch to a brand new Joseway rig. I used Soch's instructions as far as I could and used dynema luff rings with a 3mm gap. As things stand, with the mast as far back as possible, as per Mr Tushingham's instructions, and reasonable tension on both jib and backstay and main downhaul the luff of the main is overlapping the mast significantly between the first ring, excluding the head ring, and last ring, excluding the foot ring. The overlap is up to 50% of the mast diameter, if not a bit more. I'm concerned that the luff can't rotate to either side of the mast after tacking. Can anyone suggest what I should do - if anything??
March 6, 20251 yr Author I’ve reduced my jib stay and jib uphaul tension so that I can get some bend into the mast care of the backstay and then dropped the main boom a bit to reduce the leach flow. All feels a bit tight!!
