Having just retired I decided that radio sailing might be a good idea. The boat pictured was for sale on a well known auction site.

The boat is I believe a 6 meter. Design unknown.

I have looked at several websites and it appears to look like a Tern. Any further information  welcome. It is 59 3/4 inches long.  It shows no signs of sail number or any other numbers inside the hull. Probably a professional build. Hull and deck are fiberglass .

Looking at the overall shape and the way the hatch cover has been done, I wouldn't be surprised if it were a Tern.  This is mine

Hi tiggy-cat thanks for your reply.  The pictures do show that the two boats are most likely the same design. I wonder who built them?

I know it's a long shot but I hope someone might recognise this boat. Perhaps even have record of a sail number.

Thanks again..

When I got mine, it had a gold sticker in the battery tray  naming the builder. Unfortunately over time , this has acquired a covering of velcro. . The certificate gives the builders as Ferreday/Daines. I believe the sticker said Russell Ferreday, and Bill Green reckoned that  he had probably built several of the fibre glass Terns around. . If I remember correctly, the address on the label was in the South Coast area of the country.

Mine was registered as K924 in 1992, so presumably ,if registered, yours would be around that. Have a look in the hatch, look forward on the floor of the hull. Mine has the sail number marked on there as though it was done before the deck went on. You may be lucky and have a similar one.

Okay thanks for the information. I emailed Bill Green this morning. He confirmed it is a "Tern" and said that these were built by Richard Ferreday somewhere in the Solent area. Once it's all up and working I'll sail it before  re-finishing the hull the red tape is beging to shrink and look tatty..

Your boat looks terrific.

Mine has been off the water for while. Need to rethink the under deck sheeting. It works OK ish but needs something more positive without spoiling the looks of the boat.  Where abouts will you be sailing yours when done?

I hope you manage to sort the sheeting. The system looks good on mine. As yet untested I have yet to buy any radio gear and batteries. I'm on holiday so I'll sort that when I return.

As for sailing it I live near Burnham on sea which is the home of Sedgemoor M B C . Not sure if there are any 6's there. As I walk around the lake often they are often sailing on Sunday mornings. DF's and IOM's.
