May 17, 201511 yr I have recently bought a ROK Marblehead which i am refurbishing and replacing all the moving parts.Could anyone suggest a replacment winch which would not need too much adaption to fit the existing holes in the boat. The old winch is an Atlas Standard with a Whirwind 32mm drum , 59mm deep 46mm long 23mm wide, it maybe ok but i would rather not risk it. Regards David Marten.
May 17, 201511 yr Hi David, as far as I know regatta winches are around the same size as the whirlwinds, plenty of both used in club racing around the country, if you are developing the ultimate speed machine whilst refurbishing / replacing you may want to bite the bullet and adapt it now for an RMG.... other speedy winches are available!!!regards,John.
May 19, 201511 yr Author Hi John, Thanks for the recommendation, i will look up the spec for regatta winches, but i am not looking to turn the boat into the ultimate speed machine just a reliable boat. Many thanks John, regards David Marten.
