2025 Vane A week - looking for crew
Still a long way off but I am hoping to do A week in Gosport (27 July to 1 August) with my long and graceful “Hadeda”. But to do so I need to find a helper. Anyone out there willing to offer their services? No previous poling experience necessary, just willingness, and reasonable mobility We will not win the event with the old girl, but we will take points off people…. cheers Wayne.

Clem Vane
I have been drooling over some pictures of a Clem vane and have decided to try making one to add to all the other vane types that I have. But… details are rather scant. Anyone out there with some drawings that they are willing to share? Failing that, anyone willing to let me borrow their Clem so that I can take my own measurements? any help appreciated Wayne

The RRS for 2025-2028 now published
Recently there was a lot of speculation that 30.1 (I flag, round the ends) was going to be dropped but I see that it has remained.

V36 Spinnakers..... got any?
Hi Y'all I have got myself a nice wooden V36 built by John Gale and it has a ton of shiny new suits of sails, but no spinnakers. Before I ask my favourite sailmaker to knock some up for me, has anyone got some lying around that they may be willing to part with? Cheers W

Identify VaneM
Thanks Derek I looked up these two designs on www.allradiosailboats.com and of those two I would say that the Witty Typhoon is a close match. The bow profile is the right shape. The Daredevil has a sharper bow. I will do some measurements tomorrow and see how close we are Cheers Wayne .

Help to identify VaneM design please
Agree. Nothing happening on the boat itself. it just needs some rigs and sails to match. But which sails…. and as far as I know, the new owner wants it ready for May. Wonder why

Identify VaneM
Double posting. In the Marblehead Forum also. Hi All I am helping restore a VaneM from circa 1980 but we have little information to go on. What I need to do is find the design of boat so that we can get a sailplan and make some rigs. The rigs taht came with the boat are clearly not for the boat, so we need to start from scratch. Boat is GRP hull with plywood deck and there are no marking on or under the deck to help further. The vane feather carries the name "Hot Chocolate" but we should not assume for now that it came from the boat originally. Anyone out there who could help with any info? Cheers Wayne PS, only positive comments about the state of my workshop please

Mast slides for a groovy carbon mast
All you learned folks happy to advise a newbie? I have a groovy carbon mast on ann old ABoat that I am restoring and want to attach my sails via sliders to make for easy sail changes. So now I need to think of how to make sliders. I am thinking to use some 3mm carbon rod with a few layers of sail-patch as the tangs, through which I can add an eyelet. Something like the attached ( sans eyelet). This has 3 layers of sail patch, so ends up 6 layers on the tang. would this work or do y’all have better ideas? Hope to have the old girl on the water for the Vane A centenary at Gosport thanks in advance.

M&S VaneA racing results from 1997-2000
Hi folks. I am trying to find the registration/sail number for an A Boat built by Ken Shell around 1997 as I am restoring the boat. Sadly there is nothing on the bare hull and the deck was removed previously. we know the design is an Ibis by John Lewis and by the looks of it the hull was built after a bow bumper was added to the class rules. one line that we can use is racing results from this period to see if Ken raced the boat at all. anyone know where we can find such results for Vane A, notably M&S, or even better, Gosport. any help would be appreciated.

What is it - 6m newbie
Thanks Bill i get the feeling that it may have gone through a rebuild at some point as the condition of the fitout looks too good to be original. Best Wayne.
