The first of the Scottish district traveller events was hosted and run by members of the Aberdeen Model Yacht Club under the direction of Race officer Ian Dundas
The event drew entries from all Scottish clubs where IOMs are sailed and fifteen skippers entered.
The forecast for Inchgarth was not good and this proved correct especially in the morning with shifty winds and with a very low-speed which meant you did everything correct and had a good chance of coming last. In the afternoon the course was moved to the south side of the reservoir and this proved to be marginally better – then again a move to the west end and there we did the few remaining races.
An eventual winner was found among the frustrated skippers and this on count back between Pat Johnstone and Ali Law who managed somehow to win.
