Chris Durant Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Morning anyone - a new one to me. I've just today and for safety end ensure I have the latest updated file downloaded the HMS file from the MYA page. The spread sheet not unexpectedly reads PROTECTED VIEW Etc., - be careful.................................... (All as expected) But then, after clicking 'enable editing' it no longer allows me access. Instead I get the following - 'SECURITY RISK - Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the source of this file is untrusted' and directs me to a 'Microsoft learn more' file. Before I do anything silly, is this my laptop, or a dodgy corrupted file, or a new insert, or a new program update? Can anyone help / advise / clarify please? How do I overcome this block 'officially' from an MYA reliable source rather than mess anything up? Thanks Chris Durant
Chris Durant Posted March 20, 2024 Author Posted March 20, 2024 As a follow up to this, I should note that this warning appears in the download file from the web. I have out of curiosity just moved a copy to a file on the desktop and lo and behold the warning disappears! However, I'm still cautious and concerned that the macros are still there and consistent - should I be, or had magic worked? Chris
Administrator Austin Posted March 20, 2024 Administrator Posted March 20, 2024 The file is fine Chris, these are standard warnings. You need to trust the file (as you downloaded it from a known source) and enable macros for it to work properly.
Chris Durant Posted March 20, 2024 Author Posted March 20, 2024 Thanks Austin. I assumed file would be good direct from MYA. What mystified and still mystifies me is that the warning vanished between 'download' and 'user' locations with me taking no 'trust' actions! Cheers Chris

You must have clicked 'Enable Editing' on the warning banner. By doing this the file is trusted. The warning would then not appear again when you open it locally.

Since I'm doing it every week I usually start by making a copy of last week's, rename it, and then it always opens without aggro. Plus it'll typically have most of the skippers in already - just go to Program Options and 'Remove all Race Finishes'.
Chris Durant Posted March 21, 2024 Author Posted March 21, 2024 Thanks chaps - all systems go now! Chris
Guzzilazz Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 (edited) We've given up on HMS, as it requires an MS Office License. A-fleet is much quicker and easier to use on an Android tablet. There's no rekeying of results, the device outputs a PDF (or would print to paper) all for a one off license of (as I recall) £3.89 Edited March 21, 2024 by Guzzilazz Larry IOM &DF65 sailor North Essex
John Ball Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 I have Afleet on my Android smartphone and it works fine (scoring and fleet management in my pocket!). John 1 John BallIOM CAN 307 (V8)In my private capacity
Andrew Start Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 Another vote for Afleet, we purchased a waterproof tablet for the lakeside, instant results !! no more keying in 144 + scores at the end of racing However, we still used the trusted HMS for open meetings, at the moment !!!

I can 'touch type' on a number keypad, so I find that checking/adding/removing skippers in HMS takes me longer than plugging in the races lol. Does Afleet allow for copying the entrants across from a previous week like I do with HMS, or do they have to be entered from scratch each time? Out of interest, what sorta money did the waterproof tablet cost?
Andrew Start Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 Does Afleet allow for copying the entrants across from a previous week like I do with HMS, or do they have to be entered from scratch each time? A fleet is quite clever, as it stores your skippers/sail No's/Design so once you have created an event, you can pull previous competitors from a list by starting to type their name, and it will then list all options for that skipper, so you could have 1 skipper who has the same sail number on DF95, IOM , 6M select the boat racing that day and he is entered, I've probably not explained that well but it really is so simple Out of interest, what sorta money did the waterproof tablet cost? £169 but its proper waterproof and been tested Off amazon we use this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/OUKITEL-RT3-Android-Expandable-Unlocked/dp/B0CSS75P3H/ref=sr_1_6?crid=M2H9T1OYCGSV&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.MpeicrQGKjvUj35gnqpOdLR8bYj5-1RXzGguMFBx3n7CycBmXsrjxLbKN_YCvoCtfpT1u7l9AAHNHhS01Gk1lwFOM9gLke1YSU6mTEimGoRjduBM4pf9ZRnroyTOS1JV0YX5o0kMUGkRBHaKOcSDJDN0Zs5WMZNK9piH7ksHiAaFqlne1Uej8mtIjRZT_t_7ciepP8LHGQNCsD5706Z_yLpzuaE75BMPFaBJqhjLZyo.Iiqm0FzQdXFPeXzZxlG-HPeeQGZkS5f6xOgBSdIiYY8&dib_tag=se&keywords=waterproof+tablet+android&qid=1711122687&sprefix=waterproof+tablet+an%2Caps%2C183&sr=8-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.d7e5a2de-8759-4da3-993c-d11b6e3d217f

Yes - Afleet maintains a database of all the sailors in your event as you enter them in a section called Contatcs. When you create a new event, the skippers/boats are already there, so you create the new event, name it and save, and select Enter, and just start to spell the skipper name and it will list the sail numbers - all the data is already there. If there are additional skippers, add them as new Contacts, and if necessary, you can edit a skipper to change the details, like sail number or boat design. This process is really fast and simple. A useful feature is that you can export the data (to an xml file) and attach that to an email to send to another skipper or save in your 'cloud' and share it - allows another user to inherit the data for another event. Or as we do locally, allow a second device to be a backup to the primary. Just click on the xml file in the email, and select Afleet to load it into the application. Stephen B Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Would say that the tablet and A fleet has utterly transformed our club experience both as people producing results and sailors. All members know how to record scores and enter from the finish line. It makes the after racing results process much easier and upload to the website and Facebook a straight forward process, rather than members sitting at home pressing refresh on their browser hoping the results at 3.30 have been done. you can get in your car, overjoyed or disappointed as you drive home. Worth every penny and clearly club tested and works well
