Lakeside Scoring , The Way Forward .......

This has been a game changer for me, so I wanted to share it

Hi, we have been using the old fashioned pencil & paper system, and as secretary have suffered, soggy, ripped, illegible score sheets at the end of a days racing,

A fellow regional club member gave me the heads up on Afleet, this is an Android app which costs £3.89, developed by a radio sailor down under.

It is simple to use, and will provide instant results which are ready to email etc.. after the last boat finishes.

We employ a RO system on days when we have more that 8 sailors (every weekend now) the app will also calculate average scores for this.

This app saves me 1.5 hours after racing (calculating average scores, inputting to HMS, 12 competitors x 12 races = 144 entries into HMS)

plus the whole fleet are now comfortable with it after a couple of weekends use.

Plus for larger clubs where you need to deploy heats due to numbers on the water, the App will also run a heat management system

Its marvellous i cant praise it enough

It is just brilliant system, no sitting at home on a Sat afternoon pressing re fresh on the club website, when you should be outside mowing the lawn, or washing the car. However you either drive home with depression or celebration as you know your results as you walk off the bank, rather than anticipation wondering how long it will take the sec to post them.

I am delighted with this tech, rather than working with soggy paper, being blamed for breaking the second pencil, or the paper blowing away.

all clubs ought to read, adopt and purchase….. well done Andy!

Fully agree with the comments above, Harwich & Dovercourt have been using A-fleet for at least a year.  In the early days we had a few contacts with the developer (John McPherson) who was brilliant, and very helpful.  Since the start it has been excellent, even aged technophobes have got used to it...

And this is how we present the Afleet scores on our web site at the end of a days racing
