Forums are a great place to sell and buy your used modelling goods but they are also targeted by fraudsters. Following the guidelines below will help make your transaction safer.

If you are the topic starter and are selling or buying please update the topic straight away if you do a deal via private message (PM). It can be upsetting to find out you missed out although you posted first on the forum. Make it clear to everyone what's going on please.

You must be an MYA member to post a new Ad. If you are an MYA member but unable to create a new ad please contact dco@mya-uk.org.uk so your access can be granted.

No auction style adds. You must state a price for your item.

Trade members are very welcome on this forum but please note that the classified Ads section is for private Ads Only. Any posts you make promoting your products and services will be removed immediately and persistent offenders will be banned from placing classified Ads even for personal items.

If you buy or sell in these forums it is entirely at your own risk.

Buyers:

Before sending payment:
Please obtain the first and last name of the seller.

Please obtain the full address of the seller, which includes the house name and / or number, city or the town, and the postcode.

Refuse the addresses of relatives or places of work.

Please obtain a land line telephone number, ideally for the address which you have also obtained. Mobile numbers are also advisable but always ensure that you get a working landline number.

Agree on a suitable time to call the seller. The purpose of this is to ensure that the number and address are genuine and also to help reinforce confidence in the seller.

Sending payment:

Avoid bank transfer if you do not know the person well. Using PayPal can help prevent fraud if the item cannot be collected in person.

Ensure the correct amount is sent, including any postal & packaging charges which have been agreed upon.

Check and double check that you are sending payment to the person who you are dealing with. Make sure that both you and the seller are aware of any clearing period, i.e. the time it will take for the payment to clear. If you can, get a receipt or other form of proof of payment.

Keep a hard copy of all the details of the sale. Names, addresses, contact numbers, details of the items and all relevant dates.
