Hi Bill

The best way to check your boat is to work through the 6M rules

https://www.mya-uk.org.uk/kb/six-metre-class-6m/

and see how she conforms.  A 6M is not the easiest of boats to check, though, and it may be that you need to have her measured.  And the best way to check competitiveness is to enter an event and see how you do (smile).

There is a 6M event coming up in Norwich at the end of October, drop an e-mail to the organiser, Vinnie.zammit@gmail.com, I'm sure you'd be welcomed.

Good luck!

Hi Bill

a Bob Underwood Dolphin certainly does measure as a six metre, it is not a very competitive design when compared to the current designs with hydrodynamic fins separate leads etc, but in lighter winds and weedy conditions it certainly can keep up with the fleet, to race at Norwich at the end of the month is feasable if the boat has been measured and has a certificate, it would qualify for the classic class, but as it is a National Championship boats do need to be measured and certificated.
