Graham Allen
Hi I have just purchased a new A suit for my IOM. This time l opted for a jack line.My question is do you still need to use mast rings or tie cord to attach to the mast?If there is a need to attach them to the mast is there a max or minimum amount?Thank you for you assistance.RegardsGraham Graham Allen http://laser173.wordpress.com/
Mike Ewart
Hi Graham if you are going for a jack line why are you thinking about mast rings, the jack line is fixed at the top and bottom of the mast, and at various intermeadiate points I would say one fixing midway between each jack line hook, but unless you are using the mast for more than one rig why complicate matters with a jack line, really people tended to use them when they wanted to or had to reduce the number of masts they were using, not really any aerodynamic advantage over mast rings Mike Ewart
John Hanton
Hi Graham, Are you perhaps meaning Luff Wire in the sail? If this is the case then yes, mast rings or ties are still used, as far as I know there is no max or min but my sails have been delivered with the necessary holes in place, three I believe one at each panel joint.regards, John
Graham Allen
Many thanks, after I wrote the past l had a think and deducted l needed at least a few to keep near the mast and allow the bend to flat en the sail if required.RegardsGraham Graham Allen http://laser173.wordpress.com/
