Just 12” long. The rules are very open and allow tremendous scope for creativity in design and construction.

Despite their small size, the boats sail very well indeed. Their manoeuvrability makes them excellent boats for tactical sailing and they respond very well to tuning.

For transport, they will fit in a briefcase and the materials cost of a Bug 3 hull is said to be down to £5! Ideal as a second (or third) fun boat, as a technical project for young people or as a cheap test bed for budding designers.

For those who wish to leave the designing to others, we can offer two different ways into the class.
