The BOTTLE boat has great appeal to youngsters who think it is ‘cool’. Although it is a strict one-design construction, fleets contain a huge variety of colour and hull decoration as sails are recycled plastic bags. Lightweight, unsinkable and responsive, its performance is quite amazing and great fun. It is very easy to rig, just put the rig into the mast socket and connect up the sheet! It is available as a complete boat, ready to sail, or as an easily finished kit. For DIY enthusiasts it can be made with radio for just £75 using moulds, jigs and patterns available to DIY builders. With just two small parts to be moulded, this is an ideal first moulding exercise. Clubs can make very low cost boats for youngsters, as so little material is required. The largest parts connected by the hull/fin moulding are recycled 2 litre bottles. Polythene sails form a very simple and efficient swing rig sheeted by a basic standard servo.
Basic dimensions: Length: 960mm, Beam: 103mm, Height: 1550mm, Draught: 350mm, Weight: 2kg.
