IOM National Class Association for GBR

IOMICA AGM 2007

Attention all NCA for GBR owners

September has come round again - that is the time when IOMICA prepares to hold its AGM.  This year the AGM will be held during the IOM World Championships in Marseille on 19th October.  However,  each NCA requires to compute its voting strength and poll its members before the end of September.

The Agenda for the AGM this year comprises 2 resolutions concerning administrative type matters and the third deals with electing the Executive for the next 2 years.

Each of these resolutions must be voted on by IOM Owners throughout the world.  Individual owners preferences are recorded via the NCA to which they are affiliated.

So,  for GBR Owners,  the following arrangements have been made to enable them to take part in the IOMICA vote:

(1) Each Owner should check his eligibility to take part in the GBR vote.   Detailed information on how to determine eligibity is given in this document   IOM NCA for GBR - Membership information sheet (pdf format).  This document provides detailed information on membership classification,  boat ownership,  registration and certification,  and relevant class official contact details.

As a summary,  if you are affiliated to the MYA via an MYA club and you own at least one IOM which is correctly registered with the GBR IOM Registrar,  then you can take part in the vote.

An email was sent to each MYA Club Secretary with a valid email address on 2nd September containing a summary of the information in this page together with a pdf file giving a list of all the NCA for GBR members for the club. The club secretary was asked to assist in contacting the IOM owning members of his/her club to let them know about the IOMICA AGM and to assist with the voting process where appropriate.  Individual club members can also vote directly as set out in section (2) below.

Individual Certificated and Registered Owners were also emailed with a reminder on 3rd September.

(2) Individual owners wishing to vote should read the following detailed notes about the voting process and about the resolutions in front of the NCA:   Notes to be read in conjunction with the Voting Paper (pdf format)

Once you have read the above document,  you can then make your vote as follows:

Method (a)  -  print the voting paper using the following pdf file Voting paper (pdf format) ver 12-09-2007,  complete as appropriate and return it to Richard Rowan by post.  The postal address is given on the voting paper.

Method (b)  -  download the following word document file  Voting paper (Word doc file) ver 12-09-2007,  complete it as appropriate using Word and return it by email.  Email votes should be returned to  iom-vote-2007@mya-uk.org.uk.  Emails sent to this address will receive an auto-response.

Votes must be returned by Monday 17th September 2007.

Important note concerning the voting papers

Due to a late additional nomination for the post of Chairman,  there is now an election for that post.    My apologies,  but I did not become aware of this until 12th September.  According the voting paper doc and pdf files were amended today (12th September).

The updated voting papers (marked at the bottom of each page
This voting paper was created on 12/09/2007 ) should now be used instead of the version marked 31/8/2007.

Anyone who has already voted will be contacted in the next couple of days and asked to vote seperately on the election for Chairman.

(3) If you require current information on your membership status in the NCA,  then please contact Richard Rowan  (contact details below).

Please note that only Certificated and Registered members can take part in the vote.

In order to be classed as a Certificated and Registered member,  you must also be affiliated to the MYA via an MYA club.

If you haven't affiliated with the NCA or if you are not sure that you are affiliated,  then do so now.
