Minutes of the Tri Service-Armed Forces Radio Sailing Association

Held at Gosport Model Yacht Club at 1000 on Saturday 13 October 2007.

As there was no committee at the time the meeting was opened by John Taylor. Who gave a brief background to the association and a little information on the history.

The first item on the agenda in order to take the association forward was the formation of a committee.

The following people had put there names forward:

Chairman            Nigel Taylor

Secretary             David Cox

Treasurer            John Taylor

Navy Captain                Roy Stevens

Army Captain               Roddy Simpson

RAF Captain                 Brian Leighton

All of the above agreed to stand for the offices above and where duly proposed and seconded. A vote was carried out all were voted in unanimously

1.           It was suggested that we invite either the club Captain or his representative of the home club to sail in the Tri Service Championships.

Proposed by Dave Cox    Seconded by Peter Nicholls

Carried unanimously

2             The second item was the name of the association, after a small discussion it was agreed by everyone that we drop the Armed Forces from our name and in future we will be called the

       TRI SERVICE RADIO SAILING ASSOCIATION

3             The Chairman then proposed that a constitution should be drawn up, the Chairman undertook to draw up a discussion document that would the be put before  the committee for consideration.

4             MEMBERSHIP

It was agreed that membership should remain as is at present and is open to all Service personnel, all ex service personnel including reserve forces and members of the MOD whilst actually employed .

At this point is was brought up that Lester Gilbert was not actually an ex member of HM Forces but had infact sailed with us from the beginning. It was therefore proposed by Brian Leighton and seconded by John Taylor that Lester be made a full member of the association. There being no objections Lester was made a full member.

In future all applications for membership will be passed via the Secretary, the credentials for membership will include details of service i.e. Army, RAF or Navy and full Service Number. In the case of MOD employees they will provide place of work and employee number.

5.           MYA Membership.

John Taylor suggested that we might like to consider joining the MYA and paying our subs via the association. I was explained that we only need three members to put their names forward and we could join and be listed in the MYA magazine and publications.

The Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer all agreed to put their name forward.

John Taylor to take this up with the MYA.

This item has been completed and the association is now part of the MYA as from 1st January 2008. Association details will feature on both the MYA website and year book.

6.           TSRSA Burgee

It was proposed by Neil Baxter and seconded by the Chairman that we purchase a Tri Service Radio sailing Burgee which should sail under. Everyone agreed and Neil said he would make enquiries and report back.

7.           Annual General Meeting

It was proposed that the annual AGM be held at the annual championships and that the venue should remain at Gosport for as long as the club can provide us with the facility.

8.    The date for next year Championships will be advised once we have details of Gosports programme and will be published on the website.

The date of next years Tri-Services Championship, has been granted by the Commodore of Gosport MYC. To be held on the weekend starting 11th October 2008.

The AGM may be conducted in the morning of the first day, as this year.
