When you have got your yacht registration number from the class registrar (click here for class registrars) and you are happy yourself that your yacht does comply with the latest rules for the class, it is time to have it officially measured.

Most clubs have an authorised measurer, book an appointment with then and ask what paper work they require you to have on the day.

(click here for your nearest measurer)

Most measurers will charge a small fee for the service, some yachts take most of the day to measure...

If it rates correctly thay will complete measurement forms and/or a certificate(s).

Send the completed forms together with two partially completed measurement certificates and a stamped self-addressed envelope to the appropriate class registar.

The Registrar will check the measurement forms and if they are correctly completed, will reatin the documents and return a stamped and authorised certificate in the stamped self-addressed envelope that you provided.

Once your yacht has a certificate do not loose it. You will need to show it to the race officer at events that are listed in the MYA year book. When you sell the yacht ensure to pass on the certifiacte to the new owner.

It is your responsibility to ensure that any repairs or alterations that you do to the yacht do still keep it within the class rules. You may need to seak advise from your club measurer.

If you are unsure seak advise before you undertake any alterations.
