Seven yachts entered for this RA Championships. It is 10 years since the last one was held. Hopefully this is a revival of the A class in Scotland.
Race Officer Hugh Shields started the racing at 10.10 with a good top suit wind from the Southwest gaining in strength. A real test for some of the newer skippers, this being their first race.
By lunchtime only four yachts remained, others having suffered damage – mainly through inexperience. At this point after seven races Alistair Law lead the fleet with 9 points followed by John
Mathison with 12 points.
After lunch the wind freshened but the remaining skippers opted to stay in top suit. David Phillips was beginning get to grips with the conditions, closing the gap
between yachts at the end of each race. John Mathison almost lost his yacht (patch coming loose) – end of race for John.
