Directions: The Club sails at Inchgarth Reservoir. When arriving into Aberdeen from the South on the A90, at the first roundabout, follow the directions for Braemar and cross the Bridge of Dee. Over the bridge at the next roundabout turn sharp left onto Garthdee Road. Continue straight past entrances to ASDA and B&Q. Keep going straight on and after about one mile Inchgarth Reservoir is on the left hand side. Parking is available inside the Scottish Water Boundary fence. Directions: The Club sails in the grounds of the garden centre which is just off the main A94 Dundee - Stonehaven road. Going north, watch for the first Brechin turn off. Founded: Model yachts have been built and sailed in Peterhead since the middle of last century.
At that time they were models of the local fishing boats Fifies.
It is known that these yachts were raced about the 1870s and that a model yacht club was formed about 1900.
The present club was reformed in 1984. Classes sailed: IOM RM R6M also the Fifies (a local class) Club days: In the summer the club sails every Wednesday evening and once a month on Saturdays. Directions: Coming from Glasgow on the A8, at the junction between the Fire Station and the Morrison's store, turn left onto B7054, following the signs for Largs. Go straight through the first roundabout before the Railway bridge, continue under the bridge and up the hill past a set of traffic lights. Follow the road round to the right and continue for about 1 mile up to the crest of the hill. Just after the crest of the hill, watch for Murdieston Street on the right. As you go down Murdieston Street, the sailing water is Murdieston Dam on the left, the club-house is at the far end of the dam and access is via the laneway at the bottom of the dam embankment. Directions:
From the main A1 Edinburgh Berwick-upon-Tweed trunk road, turn off and go through Wallyford. At the northern end of the village, turn left past the Railway Station and proceed on the A199 towards Musselburgh. At the first roundabout, take the 3rd exit back towards Prestonpans (B1348). About 1/2 mile after the roundabout watch for the entrance to the Levenhall Links Leisure Park on the left just before the Industrial Museum on the right. Follow the park road back towards Musselburgh, keep straight on when the metalled surface finishes. Keep along the unmetalled surface until the race course appears on your left. A short distance later, the track turns right - keep going for another 1/4 mile until you come to a parking area just after the end of the trees on the left. The pond is adjacent to the parking area. Directions: From Glasgow, follow M8 towards the west. Come off at junction 27 and go back over the motorway towards Renfrew. At the roundabout on the north side of the motorway, take the 2nd exit (sign posted M8 Glasgow) but go straight on before the right hand bend onto the motorway proper. Follow this road (Arkleston Road) back over the motorway and up the hill until a T junction is reached. Turn right and continue until a roundabout is reached. Go straight on over the railway line and watching for Paisley Model Shop on left, take the second left after the Model Shop (Balgair Drive). Continue to the corner and go through an entrance into Barshaw Park Golf Course. The Club rooms are on the far side of the Pavilion and the pond is adjacent.
